Abstract

Fuzzy relations are applied into a framework of Social Network Analysis as a new data type to analyze a degree of interactions among members in human society. In this paper a generic model, named Fuzzy Social Network Analysis (FSNA), was developed to analyze social networks from affiliation of human's opinion Belonging to the third party.

The members of the Thai Parliament form an implementation social group of the model to analyze the political social network based on their opinions on the political topics. The content analysis was used to select social network data from online news. The social network data are collected in seven weeks to represent the political social network with the political event, Social network data were collected from database news of Reuters (Thailand) Ltd., which were searched under political news in June 1998 and June-July 1999. A part of this, Thai Political Network Analysis System (TPNAS) was developed Based on the framework of collected data from online news. The results of the study could reflect the social network of the Thai MPs. Moreover, the degree of relationships among Thai MPs has reviwed (1) agreed network Based on commendation opinion, (2) agreed network Based on complaint opinion, (3) conflict network and (4) contradiction of each of the Thai MPs in the periods. To support the detail analysis, the abnormal relationships in agreed networks and abnormal relationships in conflict network are made esplicit from the formal structure in the coalition parties of the Government and the Opposition parties.
