After graduated B.A. in Economics from Thammasat, Prof.Dr. Pisut was selected number one to work in R&D department of SET. He did the stock analysis, stock price movement theory, collecting stock trading statistic, entirely edit and conduct SET monthly bulletin, providing training for stock trader, co-ordinate with Bank of Thailand, review SET rule & regulation, reporting of general economic indicators, tabling financial indicators. This job is considered intellectual 60% and practical 40%.

From this first job, Prof.Dr. Pisut learnt the real world economics both macro and micro wise, forecasting technique, exciting business movement on a minute to minute basis, planning skill, advance business reporting and summarizing method and also using such information for business decision making purpose. This two years of working life certainly taught him diverse skills needed to advance to management level.

 

1979-1983 : PEC Siam Enterprises Co., Ltd. (PEC) (four years)
Project Manager-General Manager

At this company, Prof.Dr. Pisut first worked as Project Manager. The company offered project management to client in construction management, factory set up management, real estate management and all the like. He drew a plan, scheduling, laid financial planning and applying loan from bank and finance companies for customers. He negotiated with government agencies for all compliance needed in certain project. Prof.Dr. Pisut worked closely with engineers, architects & designers, industrial planners, government officials, bankers. Jobs finished ranged from small & luxurious household, factories, government’s own apartment complex to chemical plants.

Prof.Dr. Pisut learnt a lot on how to hit and deliver goal in a given time frame. He learnt to take pressure in long hour and tough environment. Compelling to original plan was what his major achievement. This job completely brought him up to management level. While some project used only a dozen people, some needed up to 500 in total including ground labors, accountants, administrative staffs, civil, electrical and mechanical engineers and outsourcers. Also this job taught him to run something from grass root until completely finished, commencement and deliver to customer. This is a really unique hand on experiences. Prof.Dr. Pisut was named General Manager before he left to the US for MBA degree.

 

1984-1988 (four years) : Master of Business Administration & worked in the US
Earn Master Degree and International Working Experiences

Prof.Dr. Pisut went to USA and got MBA from Tarleton State University (a Texas A&M university System). He actually got MBA in 18 months and spent rest of the time (2.5 years) worked for a chained stores (Stork Land, Inc) in Dallas in EDP and accounting department. Right back that time (15 years ago), electronically consolidating data from every stores into head office to summarize was kind of troublesome for a low tech firm. He coded a computer programming pulling sales records, cash position and all desired information on a daily basis. The system is programmed to automatically updated every midnight and after that being capable of doing almost real time. He also helps in sales & marketing planning for them. Prof.Dr. Pisut’s last title before left U.S.A. was Assistant Controller.

From this job, Prof.Dr. Pisut earned westernize working style. He learnt how the American transact their businesses, how they sales their products etc. 4 years in Texas taught him a lot of different culture, social and life style especially how to persistently make thing happens. It was great and fantastic experiences that he would not trade for anything.

 

1988-1992 : HMC Polymers Co., Ltd. (four years)
Finance Manager

After got back from the US, Prof.Dr. Pisut worked for a Bt-4-billion petrochemical plant producing polypropylene (PP) in the capacity of Finance Manager. He performed all financial functions i.e. obtaining syndicated loan from IFC, HK bank, Tokai bank, Citibank, Bangkok bank. Arranging loan administration, treasury management, cash flow optimization, credit & sales approval and control of around 400 dealers, Logistics and administration function. Prof.Dr. Pisut also did the plant construction management, import of baht 3-billion worth plant equipment & machinery, contract management, all BoI function. Prof.Dr. Pisut also established EDP section. The plant was among the first company in Thailand to acquire an AS 400 IBM mid range system. One will never feel how great and proud if he/she has never put him/herself to materialize his/her previous 11 years (1977-1988) of working experiences and expertise to be a part of team work to build up a giant firm which now grows to a baht 10 billion petrochemical firm in Thailand.

 

1992-1995 : Thai Summit Group (three and a half years)
General Manager and Executive Director Level

This is an OEM auto parts factories with 20 plants in Bangkok, Samutprakarn, Laem Chabang, Prathumtanee and Nakornnayok. Its annual income is approximately baht 8 billion with around 7,000 workforces.

In these group of companies, Prof.Dr. Pisut reported to the President of the group, he stationed in the president office. Prof.Dr. Pisut was overseeing 4-5 companies as General Manager, Deputy MD and Executive Director. He did and concluded the joint venture with mostly Japanese firms, setting new factories, contacting with Japanese auto makers i.e. Mitsubishi, Honda, Mazda, Suzuki to sell OEM parts to them. He initially ran a few factories operations with including operation management, finance, EDP, logistics, sales & marketing, machinery installation, plant construction, BoI petition, government compliance. Most of all, he recruited and maintained high tier H/R for the group. Prof.Dr. Pisut hired professional people ranging from factory manager, finance & accounting manager, production manager, operation director etc. He also assisted the group acquiring a finance company and took over a golf course (Pine Hurst Golf Club).

In this capacity, the main and long hour tasks allowed Prof.Dr. Pisut to get to know and comprehend a total picture of how to run a business group comprising of 18 companies at the same given time. Prof.Dr. Pisut had to contact persons from Ministers, Secretary General, Government several Directors, politicians, military leaders and all relevant parties to get all project smoothly run. These business contacts are proved to be great valuable as great resources and invaluable government and institutional customers in present and future.

 

1995-2001 (6 years) Lenso Paging Co., Ltd. (also Lenso Group)
Managing Director and Board of Directors Level

Lenso Group one of a big business group with telecom sector and chemical and industrial production sector. Both sectors have around baht 4 billions yearly revenue with total to around baht 8 billion annually. In telecom sector, Lenso has 2 paging businesses (Paclink and EasyCall), 20,000 payphone booths, Lenso shops and 300 telecom dealers, ADSL high speed Internet, Lenso Communications. In the other sector, Lenso has vinyl factory, chemical tank farms, chemicals repackaging plant, port for upload and down load chemical solvent and also possesses a big chemical logistics facilities.

Prof.Dr. Pisut’s main responsibility in this Lenso Group is the Managing Director of Lenso Paging Co., Ltd., a paging operator with annual income of baht 1 billion and 800 employees. Being the COO of the company, he takes care of all functions i.e. Sales & Marketing, Customer Care, Message Handling Services, Engineering and network, Finance & Accounting, Collection and Anti-churn, Administration and Human Resources, Lenso Shop as point of paying monthly services.

Sales & Marketing is considered the most important and dynamic part of the company. For 6 full years, we could not blink and lean back. Paging and telecom businesses are one of the real hot activities and require hard input and comprehensive attention. Customer Services Department is also the most important one. Telecom business definitely cannot survive with a hand full of unsatisfied customer. All telecom services and products are almost classified to be consumer products and no more hi tech items.

The Lenso Group has also acquired one more paging operator named Paclink and he was Managing Director for 1 year until we successfully recruited a new MD for them. As to fully utilize his past experiences, Lenso also appointed him to be director of Lenso Asia Co., Ltd. (Public), one of the largest importers of based and industrial chemical firm and also possess chemical tank farm. Prof.Dr. Pisut also was the Managing Director of LKE, a factory producing lithium ion battery for cellular phone partnering with Sony.

No matter how hard and long hour Prof.Dr. Pisut was working throughout his career, Prof.Dr. Pisut had never have quitted studying. At very near end of his stay with Lenso and with 5 years of seriously and tensely effort and extensively conducting dissertation research, Prof.Dr. Pisut earned the Doctoral of Philosophy Degree in Computer and Engineering Management (Ph.D.) from Assumption University as being his highest degree. He is currently also a visiting professor at Graduate School of Computer and Engineering Management Assumption University teaching Research Methods at highest Doctorate degree level and teaching Engineering Economy, Digital and Internet Economy course at Master Degree level. Prof.Dr. Pisut also holds a Certificate in Corporate Finance from The University of California Brekeley and Certificate in Doing Business on the Internet from The University of California Los Angeles.

In the year 2002, with his highest and earnest achievement in his career, remarkable experiences and his continue contribution effort in providing necessary knowledge to various colleges and universities through lectures and instruction given throughout Thailand and with his outstanding fame and invaluable experiences in business, industry and educational arena, Prof.Dr. Pisut has been fully and internationally recognized, granted and conferred full status of Research Professorship by Tarleton State University U.S.A. (A Texas A&M University System) on July 1, 2002 on the merit of his extremely active, helpful, kindness, knowledgeable, leadership, thoughtful, ethic, contribution to mankind and far vision as a whole.

Prof.Dr. Pisut is also holding the position of the director of The Economics Association of Thammasat, Executive Advisor to The Military Committee, advisor to Communication Committee and Advisor to the Internal Affair Committee of the Parliament. He is also an expert advisor to the member of the Parliament.
